Breeding program's implementation rules

PURPOSE.
The third-party covering programme has as its purpose to offer all breeders of pure Spanish-breed horses a service making it possible to cover their mares with Pure Spanish Breed stallions of a high genetic value. Such service will be rendered in the stud farm’s facilities through the common covering system.

APPLICATIONS.
All interested stockbreeders must submit their applications for the service and the data file of the mares to be covered, sending the documents to:

PARADA DE SEMENTALES “SAN LUIS
C/ Antonio de Villegas 28-30.
47400 Medina del Campo - Valladolid (SPAIN)

PERIOD.
The covering campaign will be carried out during the authorized period.

RECEPTION OF THE MARE(S).
Upon entry, the Origin and Inter-provincial guide will be handed over, as appropriate, and the original of the Equine Health Card and the Veterinarian’s Certificate proving that the animal does not suffer from, nor it is a carrier of any infectious or contagious disease.

The San Luis property, which houses the equine breeding centre, is located within the municipal area of Medina del Campo, (Ctra. Medina - Peñaranda, Km 5)

COVERING.
It will be always carried out under veterinary control and under the supervision of specialized personnel. The owner or the person in charge of the mare will be previously consulted about any anomalous event, doubt or variation in the established procedure.

EXIT OF THE MARE(S).
The Stockbreeder will be entitled, at any time, to withdraw his/her mare(s), by previously paying the expenses owed. Had the covering already been carried out without the required time to detect the pregnancy having passed, the Stockbreeder will have to produce, within a 30-day period following the covering, an official certificate in which a Registered Veterinarian confirms or denies the pregnancy of the mare(s).

COVERING CERTIFICATE.
The person in charge of the remount depot will issue the appropriate Official Covering Certificate, which will be incorporated into the documents accompanying the mare upon her return.

FEES.
COVERING: The covering fees are shown in each year’s stallion catalogue.

STAY AND FEEDING:
Variable Component: 8 € per day of stay for 1 mare (including stabling in pens, food and handling)

NOTE: In the case of problematic mares that fail to get pregnant, only the expenses related to veterinarian services, stay and feeding shall be due.
It will not be possible to include in the third-party covering programme mares having a pathological history, but should any interfering process appear, the Stockbreeder would be immediately informed and, with his/her approval, the said process will be etymologically treated. In such a case, the expenses will be invoiced independently of the programme.

Transportation expenses for the delivery and the collection of the animals, as well as the life/accident insurance of the mare and, if appropriate, of the offspring, will be defrayed by the stockbreeder.

ASSIGNMENT OF STALLIONS
The minimum number of mares to be covered by each stallion will be 12, the expenses related to the stallion’s transportation and the life/accident insurance being defrayed by the stockbreeder. The price for each admitted mare will be agreed upon, depending on the desired stallion.

The stockbreeder undertakes to use the stallion(s) assigned exclusively for the contracted covering activity, without being allowed to move the animal from his/her facilities without the consent of the “San Luis” Remount Depot.
